Faith-Based Communities

Truro and Colchester County are home to many faith-based communities. This section shows the most common religions in Nova Scotia and where to find out more about them.

Christianity

About three-quarters of Nova Scotians identify as Christian. In Truro and Colchester County, there are at least 8 different Christian denominations:

  • Anglican
  • Baptist
  • Jehovah’s Witness
  • Pentecostal
  • Presbyterian
  • Roman Catholic
  • Seventh-Day Adventist
  • United Church of Canada

There are also several Christian churches not part of a specific denomination.

Islam

The population of Muslims in Nova Scotia is small but growing. The only Islamic worship space in Colchester County is Truro Masjid. Find it at 533 Pictou Road in Bible Hill.

Buddhism

There is a small but growing community of Buddhists in Nova Scotia. There is only one place of worship in Colchester County. It is Dorje Denma Ling in Tatamagouche.
